| HNC Regional Tourny Results (Plano, TX) | |

Already posted this at bungie.net, thought i'd post it here.. Alright, I just got back from regionals at Studio Movie Grill in Plano,TX and it was a blast. Eight players divided about on a movie screen and it was intense. For the first game, Game 1, as most of you know the settings were oddball. I was in set 3 so I had the chance to watch what the other players did before I got up to the plate. The best strategy was to basically... yeah you guessed it, hold onto the ball and stay as hidden as possible. After watching many of dozens and hundreds of bodies and bullets and weapons fly about across vehicles, it was clear winning would not be an easy task. Game set 3 was starting and I was shaking (literally). I found a shotgun my most prized possesion in the game as I could drop the skull just in time to pop my fellow enemy point blank as he reared his ugly, unwelcomed head around the corner of my rock. Rocket launchers were also key weapons but hard to find. Starting out I was pretty much behind for the first half of the game, but I knew all too well what my playing style was and knew I'd catch up at the end(actually I had no idea, i was shitting my pants). Somehow I managed to scrap up 1st with one guy trailing me (i can't remember his name.. started with an n.. natbolt or something). hearing that 'one minute to win' is really one of the most glorious sounds i've ever heard in my life. I was at 4:49 and nat under me was 3:56... Holding the skull I again found myself head to head with one of my least favorite weapons, the rocket launcher. Yeah he got me. It's ok.. nat is nowhere to be found and everyone else isn't close to my 4:49. I finally made it up back to that beloved hell of a cave where the ball always seemed to be trapped and shottied my way through to find my prize and held onto it for that last 10 seconds of glory. I was a full minute ahead of anyone, with second place at 3:56. I had 2nd highest kills at 82 and least deaths with 62, I was feeling pretty good. When I got back to the table where my friends were cheering me on I was shaking like mad. That has to be one of the most stressful, but at the same time exhilerating experience i've ever had (pretty sad eh?). I never get shaky. Never. With 8 points I was now tied with two other 1st place contestants 'dasoldier' and 'Tokemonl', and dasoldier was in MY set for the next game. When the race game was started it was a whole new strategy and ballfield kids. While the shotgun would most ideally be the supreme weapon to carry in such a small map, it was too far to go out of the way to get, being that the object of the game was trying to get around the map as fast as possible. I found myself trailing dasoldier the entire game and when the dust settled he had placed first and I had come in second under him. He had 20 kills.. same as me.. and he had 18 deaths.. i had 17. He deserved the win and was a great player, congrats to him. So overall i placed second at regionals with 15 points. I had to fill out an 'alternate placing' form being if my man cancelled then I'd be up to take his place. However, I can't see ANY of the finalists NOT showing up at this tournament in redmond :) Overall it was a blast and it was a ton of fun. The atmosphere, the people, it was all top shelf gaming. Thanks Bungie for the awesome tournament. By the way, one quick question for Bungie. Since I'm the alternate if someone doesn't show up, how does that work if they're all the way in Redmond? I wouldn't be flying out there would I? I'm guessing my name was only taken in case he cancelled in the following week, and not right then and there at the tournament. Anywho it was great! thanks!
